OTSE Fundraiser, Cincinnati
October 2 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm
Ohioans To Stop Executions (OTSE) will be in Cincinnati to host a fundraiser on October 2nd from 5:30pm to 6:45pm at the Backstage Event Center at Nicholson’s Horse and Barrel at 625 Walnut Street directly across the street from the entrance to the Aronoff Center. At 7pm on October 2nd, Bryan Stevenson will speak about criminal justice reform at the Aronoff Center. Bryan is an absolutely incredible speaker and the author of the best seller, Just Mercy. Click here to see Bryan’s 2014 Ted Talk.
Tickets to the lecture are sold out and members of our Host Committee will receive a ticket to the lecture. We have invited Bryan Stevenson to attend our fundraiser but it is uncertain whether he will be able to attend.
As you know, the Death Penalty is still alive and well in our state and the debate about it is currently is focused on the legality of the drug protocol for executing people. OTSE is the only nonprofit in Ohio whose mission is to end the death penalty in our state.
At the fundraiser, we will have a presentation by Kevin Werner, Former Executive Director of OTSE and now Policy Director at the Ohio Justice and Policy Center, on the current state of the death penalty in Ohio. Also in attendance at our event will be Kwame Ajamu who was sentenced to death for a murder he did not commit in Cleveland in 1975. Kwame was exonerated in 2014. Currently, there are 9 Ohioans who have been exonerated after being sentenced to die. Jonathan Mann, who lost his father to murder two years ago, will also be speaking about his experience with the death penalty system. Mayor Cranley will also attend and proclaim October 2nd Bryan Stevenson Day in Cincinnati.
Host committee members will contribute $150 for an individual or $250 for a couple. All Host Committee members will receive a ticket to the Bryan Stevenson Lecture.
You can use the form below to RSVP and make your contribution. In the “comments” box, please note the names of people who will be in attendance and joining the host committee.
You can also visit OTSE’s donation page if you prefer to make your contribution that way.
