Voices of Experience

August 13, 2017 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm

Ohio plans to resume executions in July 2017 despite the legislature’s failure to adopt safeguards to prevent wrongful convictions and the unthinkable: the execution of innocent people. Ohio has exonerated 9 men after each was sentenced to death, including three since the most recent execution.

The last time Ohio conducted an execution, in 2014, it used an experimental cocktail of lethal drugs on Dennis McGuire. The result was a disastrous, botched execution lasting more than 26 minutes.

A panel of experts will discuss Ohio’s death penalty and feature:

Derrick Jamison – Exoneree who spent 20 years on death row before being released.

Allen Bohnert – Capital defense attorney who represented Dennis McGuire.

Kevin Werner – Executive Director of Ohioans to Stop Executions.
