Tell Governor Kasich to not execute Alva Campbell
On November 15, Ohio plans to execute Alva Campbell. Mr. Campbell confessed to killing 18-year old Charles Dials in 1997 during a Columbus carjacking. Today, Campbell is nearly 70 years old with a long list of ailments including COPD, emphysema, heart and lung failure, prostate cancer, and has spent most of his life on death row in and out of the hospital. His health is so frail that he cannot lie flat on his back without breathing difficulty.
The state has failed Alva throughout his whole life. He experienced some of the most severe childhood abuse and neglect ever reported in a death penalty case, went in and out of foster care without trauma treatment, and ultimately resorted to a life of criminal activity. This trend of failure in Alva’s life will only continue if the state executes an extremely frail, elderly man.
Please take action today by doing two important things, (1) send Governor Kasich the message that Ohio does not need to execute this sickly, elderly man and (2) call Governor Kasich at 1-855-782-6925 to urge him not to execute Alva Campbell.
